Hobart Airforce 700i Plasma Cutting Machine
Whatever it is your intention to buy a plasma cutting machine, whether it is to cut up a steel fence, fix a car body part or perhaps there is a piece of farm equipment you’re working on, you simply will NOT regret the decision to look at the Hobart Airforce 700i model. Yes, just look at it for a second because this is a small compact unit packed with some serious bites! With a rated cut of 5/8 inch and a max cut of 7/8 inch, we find that you won’t have any problem cutting through a full inch with relative ease.
So if you’re running a hobby shop at home where you’re constantly cutting something thicker than sheet metal. Simply plug this machine to an air compressor, start it up and off you go! It is perfect for anyone who’s used to a handheld function and this perhaps is one of the downside of the Airforce 700i because it is not built to use in an CNC environment, meaning the system itself along with the torch are not CNC compatible. In saying that, Hobart actually don’t sell any CNC compatible torch with their plasma cutters.
However, if you’re one of those enthusiast who loves to use your hand. You will be happy to learn that the package comes with a full HP-70 handheld torch, 5m work cable clamp, 2 electrodes, 2 tips and 1 air fitting along with a 3 meter power cord giving you much flexibility to go around those edgy areas. Due to it’s new inverter design and IGBT technology, Hobart is able to fit all these power in a 36 pound unit and did we mention that it can easily cut through 1 inch??

What do we think?
Unfortunately, this is another Hobart metal cutter that’s no longer in production, but there are still many refurbish or used models available on the market and can be purchase at a much cheaper price, around $600 depending where you shop. If you’re not doing any plasma gouging then you will get tons of value from this machine as consumables can wear out fairly quickly in gouging, otherwise it is definitely worth the buy.
